Once again, we met up for our monthly
youth gathering to pray. We also had a
Potluck Dinner and All Saint's Eve celebration
where we had a Saint's dressup competition,
followed by a film on St. Bernadette and
lotsa boardgames aka Monopoly, Jenga,
cards.. etc.
We were greatly surprised and elated to
see some new faces, such as Kelly, and
Elaine's friend from Poland. We also saw
Ken, Teresa's friend, and Jacob visiting.

It meant a lot to me because I'd never really
given much thought to the phrase "a picture
speaks a thousand words". It was really
beautiful because this exhibition was a
way to get people to appreciate things that
other people feel are important to them.

3 Service Attachment
For 2 months from 11 July to the weekend
of 20 September, various Confirmation 3
teens were attached to 7 youth ministries:
Youth Mentors, Genesis Ministry,
Youth Music Ministry, Youth Arise Ministry,
Revelation Generation, MOE (Ministry of
Expression) and the Chinese Legion of Mary.
It was a time where the teens were able
to learn things outside of Catechism and
also a time to get to know other youths
in the Parish.
We really appreciate
everything they have done and their very
presence in our youth ministries. Thank
you all for the wonderful 2 months together!

AUGUST Youth Ministry Prayer meet!
We have changed our prayer meet
time to 2:00pm - 3:00pm on the last saturday
of the month so that more of you can come
join us!
At this prayer meet, we discussed about
the question of what our shepherd
has done for us during our dark times,
and also what are the signs that
we are walking in the Will of the Lord?
As in Romans 12:1, it is when we do not
conform to the ways of the world but to
be renewed by the transformation of our
minds, and when we see the fruit of the
spirit in our lives, that we know we are
walking according to God's will!

Thank You Message from David!! Brief summary: We
painted the homes of 6 elderly residents.
The amount of painting to be done varied
from home to home. We had to move furniture,
clean walls, windows and floors. Of course,
at the end of it all, we also had to wash
the brushes and trays!
This is a follow up from the first
workshop held in March, where Sister
Christina went through self-reflective
exercises such as the Personal Iceberg
and the Mandala, on the topic of
"Doing, versus Being".

was a great session where Deacon Harold
taught about our identity in christ, how
we need, as young people to stand up against
the values of the world, and to be strengthened
through prayer and the Sacraments of the
Church, e.g. Confession". Parish
Dinner & Farewell for Fr. Tay Hotel Intercontinental,

were seated across 3 tables, with Youth
Ministry groups spread across 2 tables
and the altar servers taking one full
table of their own. It was fun hearing
all the stories about Fr. Augustine Tay!
We sincerely wish him all the
best as he leaves to head the St. Theresa
Home in his new appointment as Chaplain!

with Monseineur Lau celebrating the Mass.
There was a Novena at 5:00pm and the Feast
Day Mass at 6:00pm followed by the procession.

for the year in our 2009 youth prayer meets
will be on "Conversion" in the
light of St. Paul's life, as this is also
the year of ST. PAUL! So for this month
of February, we begin by learning more about
St. Paul himself, and his conversion in
Acts 22:6-16.
This will be our very first youth prayer
meeting this year. Led by our faithful brothers

FEBRUARY 2009 OLPS
Youth Commissioning Mass The
first ever OLPS Youth Commissioning
Mass was held on 8 February 2009
at the 12:15pm Mass, celebrated by Fr. Greg.
We were decked in white, and seated in the
front pews of the church. During the commissioning
prayer we were asked to step out around
the altar in view of the whole church. This
was done as we said prayers and Fr. gave
his blessings to the whole group.
It was a meaningful event, which brought
about greater awareness in our parish that
"WE ARE HERE"
not elsewhere. We are the
youths of the parish! We also acknowledged
the hard work of our current youths in ministry
for all they've been doing so far over the
last year and for this year to come, through
certificates distributed to regular youth
members in our ministries.
The event proceeded with a lovely lunch
at the canteen and an educational talk on
"Youth Ministry" by Bro. Jovita
Ho. We thank God that everything went smoothly!
